The Academy of Sciences, Arts, Cultures of Africa and African Diasporas (ASCAD) has seen things in big for this first edition of the "SUPER-PRIZE OF LAUREATES" and it has succeeded in its bet!

It is this Thursday, November 10, 2022 morning that the hall of the Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire has hosted this event before an audience of prestigious guests, diplomats (Switzerland, France, Belgium, etc..) and presidents of institutions.

Sponsor of this ceremony, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire was surrounded by the Vice-President, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, the Prime Minister, Mr. Patrick Achi, and many ministers including Professor Adama Diawara, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. A demonstration of the high interest in science by the President of the Republic.

As underlined by Professor Antoine Asseypo Hauhouot, President of ASCAD and Professor Ouraga Obou, President of the ASCAD Awards Committee, the establishment of this Super-PRICE beyond the emulation to distinguish the best practitioners in the fields of science, aims to promote "excellence through training in knowledge and know-how in order to prepare Ivorian teams to meet current and future challenges.

To make the laureates of the previous editions compete for a "SUPER-PRIX" automatically puts in place a mechanism of follow-up and capacity building of the former laureates.

In this 2022 edition, it is Dr. Félicia Johnson, teacher-researcher at the University Félix Houphouët-Boigny, who won the "SUPER-PRIX". Trained as an entomologist, she has been working for many years on the manufacturing of biopesticides. These research results have allowed her to train more than 50 farmers on her practices and to improve productivity, especially for banana crops. This prize is worth ten million CFA francs

The first prize of the ASCAD ''Super-Prize Winners'' was won by the Swiss Center for Scientific Research, for its studies on the inventory and protection of biodiversity in Côte d'Ivoire. The CSRS received an envelope of five million CFA francs.

The ASCAD jury awarded the second prize for the "ASCAD Super Prize" to the NGO Laboflore of the late Bamba Biti, for its research work on diabetes. The winner received a sum of three million CFA francs.

The Swiss Center for Scientific Research in Côte d'Ivoire had won the 2012 ASCAD Excellence Award for environmental protection in recognition of the quality of the CSRS's contribution to the study, inventory and protection of biodiversity in Côte d'Ivoire. The CSRS is one of the pioneer institutions in research on natural environments and biodiversity in Côte d'Ivoire since its creation in 1951. It is particularly active in the Taï National Park and in the Tanoé-Ehy Swamp Forest (FMTE). The studies conducted in this forest with the OIPR and many other partners and the pleas to the public authorities have led to its classification as a Voluntary Nature Reserve by decree during the Council of Ministers of 22 December 2021.
