ECOWAS: upcoming participation of the Director of CSRS and Afrique One-ASPIRE in a working session in Abuja

Professor Bassirou Bonfoh, the Director of the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire (CSRS) and the research consortium Afrique One-African Science Partnership for Intervention Research Excellence (ASPIRE) was invited to participate in a working session from 8th to 10th February 2017, in Abuja, Nigeria. The event is organized by the Department of Education, Science & Culture of the ECOWAS Commission led by the Professor Hamidou Boly. Participants will explore a way forward to collaboration and concrete action to support ECOWAS member states on Science and Technology and an agreement will be discussed on how to strengthen the relationship. The meeting will offer a platform to intensify existing and develop new partnerships during the process. Prof. Bonfoh will represent Afrique One-ASPIRE at the working session and take this opportunity to introduce to the ECOWAS members, an initiative of ‘The Alliance for Accelerating Excellence in Science in Africa (AESA)’. This initiative aims to engage with various African governments in the support of science in Africa. The link between CSRS and the Department of Education, Science & Culture of the ECOWAS Commission was established during a visit of Prof. Hamidou Boly, Commissioner of the Department of Education, Science & Culture of the ECOWAS Commission, at CSRS in June 2016.
