The CSRS joins the International Pathogen Surveillance Network

The Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire (CSRS) has officially become a member of the International Pathogen Surveillance Network (IPSN), marking a new milestone in its commitment to research and public health.

This membership forms part of the work of theMolecular Epidemiology Research Team (EREM), which forms part of the CSRS’s Animal Health, Human Health and Environmental Health (ESAH) research programme. It builds on the team’s work aimed at linking molecular and genomic approaches to the surveillance of pathogens and public health needs.

Convened by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the IPSN brings together stakeholders involved in the genomic surveillance of pathogens from around the world. It aims to improve equitable access to sustainable genomic sequencing and analysis capabilities integrated into public health surveillance systems.

By joining this network, the CSRS is opening up new opportunities for scientific collaboration, the sharing of expertise and capacity-building, in support of the EREM’s work within the ESAH programme and its coordination with national and regional monitoring efforts.

This initiative will also benefit from the CSRS’s new laboratory, which is due to be completed shortly. The laboratory will house a section dedicated to genomics, complementing the molecular biology facilities, with a view to strengthening the Centre’s research and training capabilities.

Congratulations to Dr Kanny Diallo, to EREM and all the teams at CSRS involved in the accession process and the development of these activities.

CSRS: science in the service of health and society.
