With seventy-five years of research in partnership behind it, CSRS carries a legacy that we have a responsibility to strengthen. Over the next four years, our ambition is to scale up so that we can better serve science and society. This ambition begins with the women and men who bring our institution to life, researchers and support staff alike. I want to offer each and every one of them an environment where competence is recognised, initiative encouraged and responsibility shared.
Trust will be built through listening, fairness, transparent decisions and honouring our commitments. Our augmented governance will combine collective intelligence, human judgement and reliable data to improve decisions and action. Digitalisation will simplify and accelerate administrative processes, while providing our augmented governance with reliable data to inform decisions and monitor results.
We will rally our scientific strengths around shared priorities, with stronger support for projects and young talent. The sciences and technologies of light, applied to health, agriculture and the environment, illustrate how dialogue between disciplines can generate new solutions. This interdisciplinary openness will help us make the most of the full scientific diversity of CSRS and respond to people’s needs.
Strengthening our laboratories, platforms and research stations will give our teams the means to undertake large-scale projects and realise our ambition to scale up. We will develop these capabilities progressively, aligning our ambitions with the resources and partnerships we mobilise.
To Switzerland and Côte d’Ivoire, we propose extending our historic partnership through a new shared ambition. To governments, scientific institutions and public and private partners, we extend an invitation to build with us, pool our expertise, train the next generation and invest in research whose results benefit everyone. Our success will be measured by the strength of our teams, the quality of our work and its contribution to society.
