Songon, 11 Feb 2022 (AIP)- The Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques (CSRS) in Côte d'Ivoire and the University Péléforo Gon Coulibaly of Korhogo (UPGC), signed Thursday, February 10, 2022, a specific agreement related to the HE2AT project on the health impacts of climate change in Africa, during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the center located in Adiopodoumé.

The Director General of the CSRS, Professor Inza Koné, welcomed the signing of this agreement which will address the issue of climate change and its impacts on health.

"Under this partnership, the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d'Ivoire will especially bring its expertise in project management of this kind to the University Péléforo Gon Coulibaly of Korhogo because the donors of this project are extremely demanding structures that focus on a number of things, which African institutions are generally lacking," he added.

The President of the UPGC of Korhogo, Professor Adama Coulibaly, welcomed this partnership which is in line with the same vision of the CSRS namely research in partnership for sustainable development while thanking the said center for its support.

This ceremony was enhanced by the presence of the Head of Unit of Ecosystem Health Sciences at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Professor Guéladio Cissé, who said that at the West African level, it is only the University Péléforo Gon Coulibaly of Korhogo (UPGC), which has been selected for the implementation of the HE2AT project on the health impacts of climate change in Africa.

Created in 1951, the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d'Ivoire is a research institution whose mission is to generate credible evidence through science and to serve as a platform for partnerships for capacity building and the translation of research results into cross-sectoral development action in Côte d'Ivoire and in the West African sub-region.

The University Péléforo Gon Coulibaly of Korhogo exists since October 10, 2012 and includes four Training and Research Units, three of which are functional (UFR Lettres et Arts; UFR Sciences Biologiques; UFR Sciences Sociales) and an Institute of Agro-Pastoral.
