Wednesday, August 25, 2021 - Abidjan -COCODY CERAP/INADES  


The Research Group on Governance, Society and Economic Development (GSDE) of the CSRS organized this August 25, 2021 at CERAP/INADES in Cocody, a symposium on the contribution of social sciences in research on sustainable development. In the presence of illustrious guests, GSDE researchers presented the results of their research on the need to strongly associate social sciences upstream and downstream of the implementation of sustainable development policies. Prof. Inza KONE, Director General of the CSRS, expressed his delight at the holding of this symposium which is part of the dynamic of activities organized around the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Centre Suisse in this year.

The President of the CNDH, Ms. Namizata Sangaré and the Director General of the Plan, Mr. Marcellin Cissé, brilliantly led conferences on current issues such as the importance of respect for human rights and social peace in a development process or a presentation of the PND 2020-2025, followed by fruitful exchanges between participants in person and online. It was a day rich in learning on the modalities of implementation of sustainable development in our society, several tracks were explored both at the level of the economy, agriculture and education ... during the presentations of Dr. Gilbert FOKOU, socio-anthropologist and Dr. Ariane AMIN, development economist and environment, Dr. Kathrin HEITZ-TOPKA coordinator of the Africa One Aspire Program and Dr. Estelle Kabran, geographer. Dr. Koné Bognan then presented the testimonies of the beneficiaries of the projects developed.

The ceremony ended in the late afternoon with the competition "My expertise / my field of research in 180 seconds" which rewarded in this first edition: Coulibaly Dognimin Ismaël (Sociologist), 1st Grand Prize - Neglected Tropical Diseases - Thermotherapy Mr. Adou Aguiri Denis (Criminologist), 1st Grand Prize - Neglected Tropical Diseases - Thermotherapy Mr. Adou Aguiri Denis (Criminologist) - 2nd prize - Negative experience of stigmatization and deviance of adolescent girls called "witches" Mr. Stéphane Babo (Sociologist) for the 3rd prize - Brucellosis - Production and circulation of knowledge among the various stakeholders. The winners were congratulated by the jury for having made the content of their project accessible to non-scientists. The members of GSDE led by the Group Leader, Dr. Adou Djané, were congratulated and encouraged to continue on this path towards a popularization of the fundamentals of sustainable development and especially on the demonstration they have made of the importance of a holistic approach. Moreover, it should be noted that this group of researchers has been able to bring together all the expertise at the Centre Suisse around the drafting of a report on sustainable development in Côte d'Ivoire which is ready.
