Abidjan, 22 April 2022 (AIP) - The representative of the Director General of the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (OIPR), Colonel N'Goan Djè François, said Thursday, April 21, 2022, in Abidjan-Cocody, that scientific research in and around protected areas is an essential link in the sustainable management of these sites.
"The results of research work enlighten the OIPR and effectively guide the management of the network of protected areas (...) This is why the OIPR has endeavored to sign partnership agreements with all public universities of Côte d'Ivoire and research institutions," explained Colonel N'Goran.
He was speaking at the opening of the workshop on the assessment and orientation of scientific research activities in and around the Taï National Park, initiated by the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques in Côte d'Ivoire (CSRS) and the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (OIPR) with the support of the Research Training Unit (UFR) Biosciences and the Ecology Research Center (CRE).
The Taï National Park provides enormous ecosystem services to the agricultural, industrial and energy sectors, according to the results of the study on the evaluation of its value.
