Prof. Brama KONE

Description

Professor Brama KONE is a lecturer and researcher at the University Péléforo Gon Coulibaly of Korhogo (https://univ-pgc.edu.ci/) and Associate Researcher, Project Manager at the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques in Côte d'Ivoire. 


Affiliation

He is a lecturer at the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES) in Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Epidemiology. Pr Koné is Deputy Director in charge of the development and follow-up of research centers at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Côte d'Ivoire.  


Expérience and area of expertise

Since 2013, he has been an Associate Professor at the University of Lomé in Togo for the "Disaster Management and Public Health" course of the WASCAL program (West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use). At the research level, he coordinated, among others, the Ivorian component of a regional project on adaptation of water resources management to climate change, funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada in four West African countries (2009-2012), then the West African component of 5 projects funded in Africa by the TDR/WHO program with IDRC funding from 2012 to 2017 on climate change and vector-borne diseases. Prof. Koné is currently coordinating the Ivorian part of a project funded by the TDR/WHO program in Africa seeking to operationalize the "one health" approach (2020-2021) and a local project on the use of MaldiTof mass spectrometry for the identification of Plasmodium and geohelminthes in Côte d'Ivoire (2020-2022).

Prof. Brama Koné has a good experience in advising and supporting some donors and technical partners of research (State of Côte d'Ivoire, Welcome Trust (OPOH program), IDRC, TDR/WHO, WHO/AFRO/PHE, PASRES) in the definition of research priorities for funding, training and capacity building of researchers.

For the past two decades, Pr Koné has been a member of the West and Central African Ecohealth Community of Practice and a regional trainer for this community since 2010. He is also a member of the International Association for Ecology and Health, member of the subcommittee in charge of membership recruitment in Africa for 3 years. Since 2019, he is a member of the Steering Committee of the Future Earth Health Knowledge Action Network: https://futureearth.org/2019/07/12/the-future-earth-health-knowledge-action-network-is-launched/.
