Abidjan, Sept. 29, 2026 (AIP)—The Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire (CSRS) celebrated its 75th anniversary with an inter-institutional sports day held at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny University stadium in Abidjan Cocody on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The event brought together key institutions from the Ivorian academic and scientific community, including Nangui Abrogoua University (UNA), the Virtual University of Côte d’Ivoire, the National Center for Agronomic Research (CNRA), the Pasteur Institute, the General Confederation of Enterprises of Côte d’Ivoire (CGECI), and the company Kestrel.

CSRS Director General Jérémie Zoueu paid tribute to the Center’s pioneers from 1949 and 1951, noting that its early days were built precisely on friendships and personal connections.

“Since sports are the catalyst for this friendship and these encounters, we hope that these few hours spent together will lead to institutional partnerships, scientific projects, and lasting relationships,” he emphasized, after thanking the president of the UFHB, Prof. Ballo Zié, for providing the venue.

The other speakers reiterated the importance of collaborative research in the service of food security, public health, and informed public decision-making.

The sports day featured games, a sprint race, and both a women’s and men’s soccer match.
