Songon, 10 March 2023 (AIP) - A "baby" space dedicated solely to the children of employees and researchers of the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques (CSRS) in Côte d'Ivoire, was inaugurated on Wednesday 8 March 2023, in Adiopodoumé, by the administrative and financial director of the said centre, Khady Badiène Sall, on the occasion of the celebration of the International Women's Rights Day (IWD).

"This baby space will contribute to making us champions of the genre because even in northern countries, very few institutions have such a space that contributes to the well-being of women at work. We are listening to the users of this space in order to optimise the conditions of use, on demand," stressed Ms. Sall.

As for the head of the gender unit of the CSRS, Dr Estelle Kabran, she stressed that this "baby" space will allow women to combine family life with their professional life.

"It is a feeling of joy that animates us. Thank you to our champion of the genre for having listened to our request," said in unison the women employees of the CSRS.

Worth 15 million CFA francs, this space was built with the support of the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques Foundation and will be managed by a housekeeper.

Of the 167 researchers associated with the CSRS, 54 are women and 113 are men, i.e. 32.33% women. Of the 81 employees of the administrative and financial management, there are 37 women and 44 men. Thus the rate of women in strategic positions is well above the national average.
