Researchers, Masters and PhD students, public health professionals, clinicians and research assistants were trained in epidemiology and biostatistics applied to research.
This 3-day training course (July 07 to 09, 2025), given by Drs Yapi Richard, Allassane Ouattara and Georgina Angoa, aimed to strengthen participants' skills in the use of basic epidemiological and statistical tools for research, as the production of reliable data and their rigorous analysis form the basis of all scientific health research.
The program includes lectures, practical exercises, case studies and computer sessions to enable them to:
- Define and explain the fundamental concepts of epidemiology;
- Identify the different types of epidemiological studies;
- Calculate and interpret key indicators: prevalence, incidence, risk, OR, RR, sample size;
- Understand the main biases and confounding factors;
- Present descriptive statistical data;
- Apply simple and advanced statistical tests;
- Learn to use data processing software;
- Define a statistical analysis plan.
After 72 hours of diligence, interest, commitment and learning, the training session on epidemiology and biostatistics applied to research closed with corrected practical exercises and an evaluation questionnaire for participants.
The CSRS congratulated all the participants and hoped that the knowledge they had acquired would prove useful in their respective careers!
