Notes to participants

Meeting venue
The meeting will be held in Potchefstroom, North West, South Africa.

Evening meals
Participants may have dinner at their cost in their respective Hotels. However, you are advised to check with organization members in case you want to leave the hotel.

Coffee / Tea breaks and Lunches
Coffee and tea will be served during the morning and afternoon breaks at the meeting venue.

Each participant must take the breakfast in his/her hotel.

Practical arrangements for getting to the conference venue

Potchefstroom is 145 km from Johannesburg, approximately a 1.5-hour drive.

Local taxis are available from Johannesburg Park Station for less than R200, but we do not recommend them for non-locals. Instead, we highly recommend using Uber or Bolt, which cost around R1,000. These apps can be downloaded and payments can be made through bank cards. Uber and Bolt can accommodate 2 to 3 passengers with a few pieces of luggage.

Hiring a car or our using shuttle services might be more cost-effective, especially if traveling with others arriving simultaneously. We will be organizing shuttle services on arrival from Johannesburg to Potchefstroom(September 23 and 24) and on departure from Potchefstroom to Johannesburg (September 28 and 29). However, we understand that not everyone will be able to join our shuttles.

Currency
The currency used in South Africa is South African rand (ZAR) (1 $ US = ZAR 19.04).

You may get some cash in the local currency from an ATM machine at the airport (visa cards and Mastercards are accepted).

You may also change money at the airport if you bring some cash in foreign currencies. Just tell the driver or the hostesses who will welcome you at the airport.
