Participants at the "One Health" surveillance workshop in the department of Taï

Abidjan, April 17, 2024 (AIP) - The European Union's representative in Côte d'Ivoire, Francesca Di Mauro, has encouraged political and scientific players to make the most of German expertise in "one health" surveillance.

Speaking at a workshop on "One Health" surveillance in the department of Taï, Ms. Di Mauro stressed the vital and beneficial importance of actions carried out within the framework of animal, human and environmental health. She encouraged Ivorian players to make the most of this expertise.

This meeting, organized in Abidjan on Thursday April 11, 2024, was initiated by the Helmholtz Institute for Integrated Health in collaboration with the "Une Seule Santé" platform. It brought together all the initiatives in this field under a single project.

"In the long term, "One Health" monitoring will not only provide important data with an impact on the health of animals, humans and the environment, but will also serve as a model for future generations," said the Managing Director of the Helmholtz Institute for Integrated Health, Fabian Leendertz.

The coordinator of the "One Health" Platform, Dr. Djénéba Ouattara, was delighted to support this project, which will enable collaboration between sectors working at the human-animal-environment interface to become a reality at local level.
