Workshop on the effectiveness of laws and regulations on the safety of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish produced and consumed in Côte d'Ivoire


On Friday May 17, 2025, the Norbert Béhi room at the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques was the venue for a workshop on the results of the CIRAD project on the effectiveness of laws and regulations on fruit and vegetable safety, led by Professor Aka Solange. The workshop was opened by Professor Koudou Benjamin, Director of Research and Development at CSRS, and organized by CSRS in partnership with CIRAD and the Nutrition Research Facility.


Objective: to present the results of the study conducted on the effectiveness of laws and regulations on the food safety of fresh fruit and vegetables and fish produced and consumed in Côte d'Ivoire to stakeholders involved in food safety, with a view to informing public decision-makers about the health issues involved in consuming these products to guarantee consumer health. More specifically, the aim was to: i) present the strengths and weaknesses of the regulatory basis for food safety in Côte d'Ivoire; ii) present the sanitary quality of fresh fruit and vegetables produced and consumed in Côte d'Ivoire and the health risks associated with their consumption; iii) present the chemical contaminants present in processed fish consumed in Côte d'Ivoire and the health risks associated with their consumption; and iv) propose recommendations for the implementation of effective control.


State, research and private sector bodies involved in the safety of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish produced and consumed in Côte d'Ivoire were invited to attend.
