APS 2026 Header
The African Primatological Society (APS) will hold its fourth congress in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from September 8-11, 2026. We are very proud and excited to announce this 2026 APS congress for the advancement of research and conservation of African primates.

📋 NOTES TO PARTICIPANTS

🚐 Support on arrival

There will be a shuttle service from the airport to the respective hotels.

  • Airport Shuttle (Arrival Day – 8 September 2026): A shuttle bus will be available at Nsimalen International Airport for transfer to designated congress hotels. A driver/hostess displaying the APS 2026 sign will be stationed at the arrivals gate. This service is available to all registered participants who have communicated their arrival details to the organising committee in advance.
  • Please provide your arrival flight details to the organising committee in advance.
  • Daily Shuttle Services: Shuttle buses will operate between designated hotels and the congress venue throughout the congress period, ensuring convenient and reliable transport for participants.

🛂 Visas

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Cameroon. E-visa services are available for most travelers.

Participants are strongly advised to check requirements and apply at their nearest Cameroonian embassy or consulate at least 6–8 weeks before travel.

🏨 Hotels / Accommodation

A list of recommended hotels at various price categories near the congress venue in Yaoundé will be provided to registered participants. Options will include:

  • 🏠 Budget guesthouses – affordable and convenient for students and early-career researchers
  • 🏨 Mid-range hotels – comfortable, well-suited for professionals and small teams
  • ⭐ Premium accommodation – high-standard hotels for those seeking additional amenities

📅 Participants are strongly encouraged to book early to secure their preferred option. A hotel booking form will be made available from April 2026 to facilitate reservations.

Please inform the secretariat of any special accommodation needs (accessibility requirements, etc.).

📍 Congress venue

The 4th African Primatological Society (APS) Congress will be held at the Yaoundé Conference Centre, in Yaoundé, the political capital of Cameroon.

📡 Facilities

  • Free WiFi access throughout the venue
  • Simultaneous translation between French and English for all plenary sessions
  • Modern conference facilities suitable for plenary sessions, breakout meetings, poster displays, and networking events

🍽️ Coffee/tea breaks & lunches

  • Coffee and Tea: Served during morning and afternoon breaks
  • Lunches: Provided on 9, 10, 11 September 2026
  • Breakfast: Taken at participants' hotels

🥗 Special dietary needs

Participants with special dietary needs are kindly requested to inform the organising committee in advance. Please specify your requirements when registering, including:

  • Vegetarian or vegan diet
  • Food allergies (e.g., shellfish, gluten, nuts)
  • Other dietary restrictions (please specify clearly)

This will help the organising committee ensure that appropriate meal options are available during the congress.

💰 Currency

The currency in Cameroon is the Central African CFA Franc (XAF).

  • Exchange: EUR and USD can be exchanged at banks and currency exchange offices (at the airport)
  • ATMs: Widely available in Yaoundé, accepting Visa and Mastercard
  • Advice: Participants are encouraged to carry some cash for local transport and personal expenses, as smaller vendors may not accept cards

🩺 Health and vaccination

⚠️ Cameroon lies in a malaria-endemic region.

  • Consult a travel medicine physician regarding malaria prophylaxis
  • Ensure your Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is valid and current (mandatory for entry into Cameroon)
  • Bring sufficient personal prescription medications for the duration of your stay
  • Carry insect repellent and wear appropriate clothing in the evenings to reduce mosquito exposure
  • Obtain comprehensive travel and health insurance, including medical evacuation cover

🛡️ Security

Yaoundé is generally considered safe for visitors. Participants are advised to:

  • Take standard precautions with personal belongings in public areas
  • Remain attentive in crowded places and when using local transport
  • Consult any security advisories issued by their national embassy for Cameroon before travel

✈️ Flight reconfirmation

On arrival, please provide your return flight details to the organising committee so that airport shuttles can be arranged for your departure.

⚠️ Please note: shuttles may not be available for departures after 13 September 2026.

For independent travel, taxi costs to Nsimalen International Airport are approximately USD 15–20.
